Higher steel strengths can result in failures during insertion in the absence of additional measures and should therefore only be used after consultation with us. In order to ensure optimum system security we recommend using exclusively SFS intec's WS set- ting tools. In manual setting, special attention must be paid to inserting the WS dowel right-angled. If the arrangement of the steel plates or the steel plate thickness (tb,min = 3 mm) does not con- form to the suggestions in tables 2 to 4, the design values Rd per dowel can be calculated in accordance with EN 1995-1-1:2004/A1, section 8. It must be noted that with an external timber thickness t1 a deduction of 19 mm must be allowed for the drill point of the WS fastening system and the remaining unpenetrated timber. Transmission of the forces in the steel plates must be demonstrated. With plate thicknesses 3 mm <_ tb <_ 5 mm the embedment stress in the plate must be verified. The tensile stresses in the net cross section must be demonstrated for the joints. This verification must be provided separately for the timber middle member with the pin forces induced here, and for the two timber side members.
