Suitable surface treatments can improve both the appearance and the function of the parts concerned. Many requirements can be addressed by the appropriate surface treatment:
- increased corrosion resistance
- increased product life
- improved aesthetics
- guaranteeing correct functioning
- economical materials can be finished with expensive finishes
- improved mechanical properties such as friction coefficients
SFS intec offers a wealth of proprietary finishes to improve product properties. Among others we offer a range of electroplated finishes and zinc chromate.
In line with the EU End of Life Vehicle Directive 2000/53/EC and the Directive 2002/95/EC on the restrictions of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, the spectrum now also includes Chrom (VI) free surface finishes:
- spedacor® seal offers corrosion-proof surface finishes
- zinc and zinc alloys depositions in combination with thick layer passivation
- zinc-iron black passivation with a sealing coat
- chemical zinc depositions
New developments in the field of finishing are closely monitored by SFS intec finishing facilities and new processes can be tested out in the in-house EN/ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, where a range of tests such as corrosion proofing can be carried out.
