Reinforcement of purlin penetration

Penetrations in supporting timbers can cause problems, because localised axial loads develop. The timber may split along the grain.

Using System WT fasteners enables the critical forces to be taken up, thanks to the double threading.

That de-stresses the critical zones, and, of course, WT fasteners can be hidden in the wood, offering aesthetic appeal and increased fire strength.

Ease of working

WT fasteners are inserted directly without pre-drilling. Thanks to the precise head-profile, they can be easily counter-sunk into the wood.

That means they can be inserted at more or less any depth; i.e. where the forces need to be taken up. They can also be inserted from the "blind side".

System WT fasteners produce secure, precise bonds without glue; avoiding potential health and safety issues. Ease of application increases security and speeds up the job. "Win/win" with WT.

Timber engineering applications:

Easy fastening with the WT-T40 / D10 attachment unit

We recommend the power drill BO 1050 or a commercial drill with an equivalent RPM and power rating for easy fastener insertion. Using the WT-T40 preparation tool enormously simplifies the insertion process.

Insertion below flush is achieved using a T40 bit available from SFS intec in lengths up to 350 mm.
