Summary eco-balance

The summary eco-balance covers SFS intec and SFS services at the Heerbrugg site. In the past 10 years we have continuously summarised and evaluated all environmentally relevant data in an eco-balance.

We have published all environmental impacts caused directly at the company's site together with the provision of energy and waste disposal in a core balance on the one hand, and summarised the environmental impact of purchased raw materials, fuels and process materials in a complementary balance on the other. We have converted all physical units into environmental pollution points in order to make them comparable. Goods, business travel and commuter traffic is not included in this balance. The published facts and figures are the operating eco-balance on the one hand and consumption data per defined reference quantity (per tonne of finished product) on the other.

The summary eco-balance is drawn up annually in the context of our environmental management system in compliance with ISO 14001:2004, which is integrated in the BMS,
on the basis of ecological scarcity/öbu 98 with Regis 2.1.

This method distinguishes between core balance and complementary balance:

  • The environmental impact caused directly at the company's site (site balance) and the provision of energy and disposal together produce the core balance.

  • The environmental impact of "bought-in" materials, which is merely released by us, but
is caused by our suppliers, makes up the complementary balance.

  • Site balance, core balance and complementary balance produce the overall balance.
