ISO 14001:2004 - EKAS 6805, Heerbrugg site

SFS intec has been certified for compliance with ISO 14001 since 1996.

U+S Annual Report

The E+S Annual Report is drawn up for the QES Annual Management Review.

It refers mainly to the valid E+S vision, the annual objectives derived from this, and the plan of action. It is always released by corporate management. It also includes an assessment of the legal compliance and the eco-efficiency of the Heerbrugg site. An interim assessment of the plan of action is made every six months.

Assessment of legal compliance

Evidence of legal compliance is an essential component of ISO 14001. The öbu guide to environmental legal compliance is a good tool for assessing legal compliance. We use this regularly updated guide for regular updating of our assessment. Since we have also integrated occupational safety in our BMS, this is included in the assessment. The last assessment was made at the end of 2005, prior to the ISO 14001 review audit. The
relevant laws, regulations and execution dates are complied with.

In agreement placed on record with the regulatory bodies, the following tasks are
planned for 2006:

  • Hazard portfolio and risk analysis as stipulated in EKAS 6508
  • Separate fire sector for chemical storage tanks. This pending item will be
settled in the context of the modernisation of effluent treatment facilities

Eco-efficiency at SFS intec, Heerbrugg site

This tool for assessing eco-efficiency was developed in öbu and serves to evaluate progress in the environmental field. The main possibilities for application are:
  • Authoritative yardstick for assessing continuous improvement in the context of the
E+S Annual Report, basic document for internal audits by corporate management.
  • Basic document for self-assessment of subsidiaries in combination with the summary
    eco-balance.

SFS intec has an environment and safety committee in which all departments and relevant organisations are represented.
