SFS has utilized the excellent properties of cold forming since the company was founded in 1960. One great advantage of cold forming is the economic manufacture of high volume components.
This ingenious process starts with a raw material of malleable metal or alloy, usually in the form of wire. After an initial cut that forms a blank, the component is formed by a sequence of two six dies, depending on the design requirements of the part.
The key features of cold forming are:
- effective use of raw materials
- economies of mass production
- detailed design features
- the replacement of assemblies with single components
- strength of the components
- extremely high reproducibility
