The annual volume of effluent and thus also effluent treatment charges have been reduced considerably by systematic separation of cooling water and effluent.
The analyses of effluent samples from both in-house effluent treatment installations by a certified laboratory show that the relevant limits are complied with. As a rule the readings are considerably below the relevant thresholds.
The separation of cooling water and effluent referred to earlier has resulted in a substantial reduction in the volume of effluent. This has caused in an increase in the concentration of contamination in the effluent and thus in the contamination factor used to calculate effluent charges.
However, all in all effluent treatment charges have nevertheless been halved since 2002.
