Almost 60% of the environmental impact triggered by SFS intec at the Heerbrugg site is attributed to "bought-in" materials. According to the complementary balance, 95% of this is related to the metals used. Almost 26% of total pollution arises from energy supplies and disposal.
Just 2% of the impact originates from the site. As the core balance shows, the largest element which can be directly influenced is electricity consumption.
Much less pollution is caused by natural gas, solvents and degreasing agents, refuse, effluent and perchlor.
